Roguesphere is a freemium low-poly action game where you play as a mighty conqueror deadset on ramming their enemies to a wall or, better yet, onto another helpless foe and conquering every planet in the galaxy. In addition to annihilating their foes, they must also survive their interplanetary conquest until the timer runs out — after which a portal will appear on the map.
Roguesphere includes both free and paid unlockable conquerors, each with a unique ability that alters your playstyle. Overall, with its straightforward, bite-sized gameplay, this title was developed with the busy and casual player in mind.
Make your game harder
As a conqueror of a planet, your task in Roguesphere is to collect diamonds, tackle enemies, and avoid their health-depleting attacks. Although there’s a stage timer, players are not pressured to defeat all foes on the map. So long as they survive, they can enter the portal. Once entered, the player will be asked to select from a pool of difficulty upgrades.
These upgrades range from spawning spikes on the map to reducing the coin value from 10 to five, turning each conquest into a test of spatial awareness, endurance, and survivability. New planets and characters are unlocked upon reaching the required number of progress points earned via game completion or the death of your conqueror. There are selectable characters, such as Upgrade Boosts, but they are optional.
The in-game achievements are also a treat for completionists. Not only do the achievements make the game more replayable and engaging, but they also hone your skills to perfection. You can view your in-game stats and play with the settings, as well. The game’s drawbacks, however, lie in its repetitive gameplay and tricky one-finger control system — which takes a bit of practice to get used to.
A highly replayable title with bite-sized gameplay
Although the graphics are not the most visually impressive, Roguesphere is still worth a try for its high replay value and straightforward gameplay. The difficulty upgrades, as promised, add a layer of challenge to your conquest, facilitating both survivability and skillful play. Best of all, this game respects your time as it can be played in short bursts—making it ideal for time-strapped gamers.
